Does my mom need to know?

So I told my mentor that I had sex without protection and she wants me to get tested. I agree that I should I'm kinda scared, but the real problem I have is if I should tell my parents. My mother would be crazy disappointed in me and I'd feel bad. With her not knowing I can pretend it never happened but once she knows I think our whole relationship will change. I'm not sure what to do.

Well the first part to this situation is rather easy to deal with...RUN TO THE NEAREST CENTER/CLICNIC/HOSPITAL AND GET YOURSELF tested. Having unprotected sex isn't such a good idea these days, its high risk behavior that can have monumental consequences. If you don't feel comfortable going to a family doctor find the nearest Planned Parenthood center or other sexual health clinic. Think about taking a trusted friend with you to also get tested, that should provide you with enough support to make this process as easy as possible. As far as telling your parents, you know your parents better than just about anyone and that decision needs to be based on what you expect their reaction to be. If their reaction will be more positive than negative then it might be a go, but if it is more negative than positive then it might not be such a good idea. You really have to think about whether you would feel worse with either; the guilt of not telling them or the negative reactions that they may have.
